Olive came home from school wearing this wristband. "My" is one of her sight words :)

couple more school shots: one of me helping her with her homework, and one of her walking in to school by herself. she felt ready to do that on day 3!!

Olive and Lily have been becoming closer and closer buddies since we moved in next door. Olive has asked a bunch of times if she could dye her hair blond like Lily's, and I keep trying to explain to her that she has beautiful hair and that this is how God made her (not to mention that blond would just never take well on her lovely dark hair!). It's not enough. She went with Jenny and Lily to her back-to-school haircut appointment, and even though Lily got hers cut the same length and style as Olive's, that girl came home in tears that she couldn't dye her own. Jenny talked with her about it in the car, and told me about it, but again, it just wasn't enough. So, Lily went right home and made this for Olive. So sweet of her. And best of all, it has seemed to work! Olive hasn't mentioned dying her hair since then!

Olive's first day of Kindergarten

I can't believe this day has come! I had a good cry last night. But today I was fine, and so was she. Until we got there! Then she started making this pucker face, I think to hold back some tears, and was pretty quiet. I whispered to her to remember the words that Daddy said in his father's blessing for her. She nodded. By the time I left her, she was looking pretty brave and even chatted up another little girl. Adore adore adore this girl.

Watching The Little Mermaid for the first time is serious business.
