Today was Olive's last day of art class at the Dinosaur Park. There was a little art show where we got to go see all the things she made. She did two sculptures, spin paint, water colors, oil pastels, bubble prints, sketches, and a nature weave. Talented girly!! She loved her teacher, Miss Kim, and said she hopes we see her at the Dinosaur Park again.

I signed Olive up for Art in the Park at the Dinosaur Park. It's an art class one day a week for 3 weeks, and today was day one. She made bubble prints, and drew this iguana. She had a great time.

In other news, I took her to urgent care last night and she has strep throat. Boo.

When I was reading to the girls tonight, Lucy fell asleep almost immediately. So Olive asked me to get in bed with her. We cuddled up, and talked about lots of things. She said, as she often does, that she wishes she had green eyes just like me. I told her I love her brown eyes, and she said, "Yeah but I want to be like you." So we talked about a million ways we are alike. When we were laying there looking at each other so closely, I remembered that a lady came up to us a couple weeks ago and said Olive looks just like a little girl in a Norman Rockwell picture. On Sunday she especially did, with her short hair and a short little button-down dress; she was beautiful. And then I remembered that on Sunday she asked me if she could share her testimony in sacrament meeting. I told her she could, but that I wouldn't help her at all - that she had to walk up there, say her own words, and walk back down all by herself. She did it. And as we were laying beside each other talking and looking at each other, I thought of how nervous I get when I do that and how nervous she must've been. Here's the conversation that ensued...

Me: Were you nervous in your tummy when you bore your testimony on Sunday?
Olive: Yes, but I felt like the Holy Ghost was with me.
(long pause)
Olive: Mom, how many holy ghosts are there?
Me: Just one.
Olive: But Luke and Layla both have him. How many 8 year-olds are there in the whole world?
Me: You mean, how can all of us have him with us at the same time?
Olive: Yeah.
Me: Think of the sun. It's one thing in one place, but all of us can feel it at the same time. Right?
Olive: Now I get it!

Another little update about Sundays with Olive: We haven't given the sacramental bread and water to the kids at all. We don't want them to treat it like it's a snack, and we have told them they'll be able to have it after they're baptized. A few Sundays ago, Olive whispered to me, "Mom, I won't think it's a snack." We had a quiet conversation right there about the meaning of the sacrament and how we need to be especially reverent when we're taking it. And she took it. Each Sunday since then, she has taken it so seriously. She folds her arms and sits up straight when it's time to take it, and it has seemed to really mean something to her.

I adore her.
