Before today, each time Olive wrote her name she would put as many lines on her E as she could fit (see a thousand previous photos featuring her written name). Today I explained that there are only 3. She looked embarrassed, and sheepishly pointed to a picture she had drawn that was hanging on the kitchen wall, with her name and a many-lined E. I told her it was ok, and that now that she knows she can do it right! So she wrote her name, and here it is with the E written correctly. I'm kind of sad, but she's just too smart to hold back.

Friends forever.

Went swimming at my buddy Lisa's pool a couple times last week. Olive can swim the length of the pool! I won't lie, it scares me. But I'm really amazed at her ability.

Well, Olive is done with her first year of preschool. She really loved it, and was sad when I told her it was over. But, she had a blast at the end-of-the-year party! Here are a few photos, and a video...

Mommy's glasses

Here are the gifts we put together for teacher appreciation week. Olive had mentioned once that one of her Tiny Tots teachers loved black licorice. I was pretty impressed that she remembered that detail, so I thought we could go with that. We put a pack of licorice, a chocolate bar, and a pocket hand sanitizer in each oversize mug. And the mugs have little writeable chalkboards on them; I thought they were so cute and so did the teachers. Our gifts were a hit!

Olive must've been feeling extra affectionate for me last night as I was tucking her in. She caressed my face, and said, "Mommy, you're so good at us."
